Alexander Spott received his B.S. degree in Physics from University of Washington, Seattle, in 2011. He received his M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical and Computer Engineering from University of California, Santa Barbara, in 2015 and 2018, respectively, where he worked in the Optoelectronics Group led by Professor John Bowers. His dissertation focused on the heterogeneous integration of mid-infrared lasers with silicon photonic waveguiding platforms. Alexander has authored or coauthored over 35 journal and conference papers. He received a National Science Foundation (NSF) Graduate Research Fellowship in 2012.
Alexander is currently working as a Postdoctoral Researcher at UCSB. His research focuses primarily on mid-infrared silicon photonics and the integration of mid-infrared lasers on silicon.
